How Jewellers Can Apply for BIS Certification for their Outlets?

Indians have always been fond of jewellery and ornaments. This exquisite interest has its roots in the history where the royal family and their closed ones wore priceless jewellery to showcase their royalty.
Though there are not any kings here, the interests remained the same throughout the time.
Being rare metals, jewellery is something which is expensive. However, thee are people who can sell adulterated ornament which can hurt not only people’s sentiments but can also cause immense loss to their investment.

With that thing in mind, BIS has mandatory for all the jewellers selling gold jewellery to sell only hallmarked jewellery. Undeniably, this is a positive step that can eradicate the counterfeiting of ornaments.

Though there are innumerable jewellers who have attained BIS certification for their outlets, still there are plenty of them left who still need to get it. For all such people, here is the step-by-step guide on how they can get BIS certification.

1 Filling the Application Form
The first thing that you need to do is fill the application form of BIS. The form includes the basic yet necessary information about the outlet or the company including its name, address, type of ownership, type of certificate, annual turnover and many other things. Make sure to fill the right details to move forward with the process.

2 Provide the Required Documents
Along with the application, you must attach the required documents as proof to the details mentioned in the form. The documents include the proof of establishment of the company, address proof, identity proof, map of the location along with a landmark, and annual turnover proof. Attaching all these documents along with the application form is mandatory or else the application can be rejected.

3 Fee
Once the application is submitted, you need to pay the necessary fee for the certification. The annual fee varies with the annual turnover and the number of outlets that you are going to get certified.
Now the rest of the process will be done by the BIS personnel. They will be taking all the measures to test your outlet, the manufacturing process and the purity of the gold. Meeting their standards is mandatory to attain this certification. If everything went right, then the outlet will receive the BIS certification which will be valid for a period of 2 years.

No matter whether you go for BIS registration online or offline, the documents, and the other parts of the process will remain the same. However, you can connect with a BIS registration agent to understand the process in detail and to make the process simpler as well.
