BIS Collaborates with IIT Roorkee for Standardisation of BIS Registration
Whenever we think about any Indian institute
which guarantees excellent outcome, then the first name that comes up is Indian
Institute of Technology or IIT. IIT has given innumerable geniuses to not just
India but to the entire world. They have set a high standard for the education
in India making it one of the best engineering institutes of the world.
When it comes to setting standards, then there
is another organisation in India knows as BIS which standardises certain
products so that the customer can get the highest quality product without
facing any trouble.
Both Bureau of Industry Standards and IIT
Roorkee have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding where they both will
work together to assess the areas of standardisation. Being one of the best institutes
in the country, this collaboration will positively impact the overall BIS registration
process and will significantly boost product quality.
The MoU states that both parties will assist
each other in researching and development of plans to ensure that the right
standards are set for product certification.
Everybody is aware of the inventions that
students come up in IIT. With a high number of potential students working on
the projects, each of the new invention or any intellectual property’s ownership
will come under both parties including any confidential information regarding
the same.
Apart from that, by collaborating with BIS, IIT
Roorkee students will also study Indian and international standards of products
allowing them to standardise them for a better outcome. IIT Roorkee is not just
sharing the brilliant minds from their institute, but they are also extending
financial support to BIS.
BIS and IIT Roorkee will work together in the
mechanical engineering, development of water resources, infra development,
earthquake engineering, biomaterials, civil engineering, nanotechnology,
renewable energy, and many other projects for the better future of the nation.
With better standards set by BIS, the
manufacturers have to maintain the highest level of quality in their products.
Moreover, the need for BIS registration consultants will increase so that they
can assist manufacturers in getting the certification without any major delay
and help in boosting the economy.
BIS Certification was not mandatory for all types of manufactured products. However, in 2009, the Indian Government made such certification mandatory for solar modules and cells. Thus, there appeared a new demand to obtain the BIS certification for solar modules.
