Understand the Technical Guidelines that are Available for the Products Covered Under the Certification Scheme

Bureau of Indian Standards has made it mandatory for several products to have BIS certification. With numerous changes and complex rules and regulations, it is often difficult for every person to understand the set guidelines to attain BIS certification.

Knowing about the technical guidelines is essential as it will help in preparation for the testing and meeting the standards set by BIS. With that thing in mind, here are all guidelines for products covered under the certification scheme.

Intermediary Details

Sometimes the materials for producing the products are obtained from intermediaries. During the application process, it is necessary to mention all the details about the intermediary including names, GST number, addresses and others to ensure that BIS can monitor the items.

Factory Visit for Granting Certificate of Conformity

Before the actual factory testing takes place, the authorities from BIS will visit the factory to monitor the quality. During this visit, the applicant should have a sufficient amount of material and products used for production so that the officials can inspect the quality. Every minor detail will be added to the report prepared by the official that will be considered for granting the certificate of conformity.

Factory Testing

Once the initial visit is completed and the report is submitted, the officials will begin the factory testing phase. During their visit, the authorities will monitor the condition of the machinery and whether they meet the standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. In addition to that, the entire premises will be monitored for the quality standards and ensure that the manufacturer is using only BIS-certified material for production.

Issuing of Certification or Rejection

If the authorities identify that the manufacturer is meeting the set BIS standards, then they require an inspection and testing plan. The plan includes the workflow of the manufacturer to control the production process and the frequency of testing.

On the other hand, the application can be rejected if the desired actions are not taken by the manufacturer at the right time. However, 21-days prior notice will be given to every applicant so that they can be heard and provide the right explanation.

Understanding the technical guidelines is essential to move forward with the process. A BISconsultant in Delhi can help in giving in-depth detail about the guidelines as well as the entire BIS certification process.
