Standardising Logistics and its Impact on National Supply
The supply chain
of the products is affected by the logistic sectors in India; be it directly or
indirectly. There is no denying the fact that logistics is one of the biggest
contributors to the growth of the Indian economy and is growing every single
day.
However, there
are several challenges faced by the logistics industry which can pose long term
adverse effects. The biggest one is covering a wide range of industries
including packaging, warehousing, material handling and many others. Different
areas of working means lesser effectiveness of working. With that thing in
mind, integrating all these sectors is the need of the moment. In addition to
that, lack of digitization and harming the environment is another major
challenge for the industry.
Mere mentioning the
challenges is similar to complaining if there is no solution provided. For the
above-mentioned challenge, the most effective solution is standardising
logistics. Enhancing quality, and compatibility can be achieved by setting
standards to packaging, processing, and labelling.
BIS has
introduced several BIS certifications for various similar sectors under
logistics to ensure transparency and quality. Freight containers, packaging,
package size, material, and weight standardisation is introduced to make logistics
an uncompromised and effective industry. Flexible Intermedia Bulk Containers or
FIBSs are also developed to boost up the quality of logistics.
In addition to
that, BIS is constantly working towards going green and reduce carbon waste
produced by regular usage. The introduction of electric vehicles has also put a
huge impact on logistics and BIS is taking all the measures to ensure the safety
of the vehicles.
Standardising
logistics will surely change the way how things used to work but on a positive
side. All these changes will ultimately result in better efficiency of working,
digitizing the sectors, and reducing the damage done to the environment. Though
it will take time but will help in maximizing the security, effectiveness and
global competitiveness of India in the world. BIS consultants in Delhi use
the right approach in ensuring the quality standard of the product and
logistics sector and work in sync with these consultants to make the certification
process a bit easier.
